What is DTY?
DTY stands for Draw Textured Yarn, also known as "textured yarn" or "stretch yarn." It is a type of chemical fiber filament produced through a texturing process, featuring excellent elasticity, bulkiness, and crimp.
DTY Production Process
The DTY production process involves drawing and false-twist texturing of POY (Partially Oriented Yarn) to create:
- Three-dimensional helical crimp structure
- Excellent elasticity
- Good bulkiness
- Appearance and hand feel similar to staple yarn
DTY Classification
- Polyester DTY (PET DTY): Most common type with widest applications
- Nylon DTY (PA DTY): Softer hand feel with excellent abrasion resistance
- PTT DTY: New polyester fiber with better elasticity
DTY Specifications
DTY specifications are typically expressed as: Denier D / Number of Filaments F
For example: 75D/72F means 75 denier with 72 filaments
- Higher denier means thicker yarn
- More filaments means softer hand feel
DTY Applications
DTY is widely used in the production of various elastic fabrics:
- Core yarn for spandex covered yarn
- Knitted fabric yarn
- Woven fabric yarn
- Yarn for socks and underwear
- Home textile fabric yarn
As an important raw material for fabric production, DTY quality directly affects the performance and quality of the final product. Choosing the right DTY specifications is crucial for ensuring fabric quality.
